Sweet Summer.

As the last days of summer come, we've been outside a lot. Trying to soak up every last ray of sunshine. Trying to soak up all of the life we can.

Picnic-ing has become a favorite past time.
Grab the big denim quilt, a sippy cup and a bowl of grapes.
Its not always about the spread (but sometimes I sneak out some sandwiches too), its about the outside. Being in nature, feeling "it".

Its about spending time as a family of three and anxiously awaiting the fourth member to round us back out to even.

Its about capturing moments like this, and realizing just how grown up she is becoming and trying to hold onto the little bits of early toddlerhood that we can.

Today is cooler on the ridge. Not even 70 this morning. And its not just "camp morning" cool. it is Autumn cool. Although I know this house is definitely looking forward to the coming cooler months and the sweaters, apples, and changing leaves, it is also hard to let go of her first summer. Her first experinnces of heat, humidity, swimming pools, and staying with grandparents for long bits of time. But we move on. There are more experiences to be had. And until that first leave changes to golden yellow, we'll still call it summer and enjoy it for all its worth.

So long sweet summer
I stumbled upon you and gratefully basked in your rays
So long sweet summer
I fell into you
Now you're gracefully falling away
